Yesterday evening as we were coming home from our monthly gem society meeting where I did a presentation on photographing cabs, slabs and jewelry it was evident that there would be a super sunset when we got home. This time of year there is a lot of dust in the air in the Northern Central Valley because they are in the middle of the walnut and almond harvest. This harvest involves a zillion small sweepers buzzing around in the orchards sweeping up the nuts after they have been shaken from the trees. This creates a lot of dust in the air. This is a major industry here because California supplies about 80% of the world's almonds and about 80% of the walnuts in the U.S. The prices have been rising for these nuts over the last few years so there are a lot of fields that normally have row crops such as melons and tomatoes are being converted to these nut orchards. Also a lot of pasture and grazing land is now being planted with these trees, so I expect in future years there will be a lot more of these sunsets..... These photos were taken from our back yard. Sunsets have been photographed to death so it is difficult to get one that really stands out. You gotter done. The yellows in that sunset really makes it pop. Thanks for posting that. We should have a little beauty every day. Yours covered several. Jim
