Robbie..Yes you want to do it..Makes it a lot easier to get your rocks out and you are not dealing with the machine itself..I take a scotch brite pad and clean the bowl and rinse it out well ..I also use a hose with a high pressure nozzle on it to clean the rocks and bowl...John

I go one step further and burnish with borax between grit/polish changes in my UV-10. The borax should remove any residue from the grit/polish as well as that greasy floating film (HDPE dust) that is scraped of the inside of the bowl.
Most vibe users will have a dedicated bowl for the polish stage. It's virtually impossible get all the grit off the foam pad on the inside of the lid, so a dedicated polish bowl will reduce the possibility of cross contamination in the final stage.
Good luck.
Darryl.

Yes, take the bowl off and empty it. Kind of a pain, I know, but you need to do it.
I don't scrub my UV18 to the degree that other posters do since the grit breaks down so rapidly in a vibe. I just rinse it out and wash off the lid. I do have a dedicated polish bowl.

of course nobody mentioned the easiest way to do it..................
Just buy a second tumbler and use it for polish only ... that way you never have to clean the bowl out thusly eliminating the need to disassemble the tumbler to clean the bowl... as a matter aof fact... if you have 3 tumblers you are even better off as there are 3 stages to a vibe tumbler... rough sand, & polish!!
there the lazy mans approach to vibe tumbling!!!!
and of course there are the piggyback vibe tumblers.. but that's another story ......
