Seriously it was catastrophic, death by metal fatique! Went to barn yesterday morning and the Loto, given to me by Marinedad, was doing great. I turned it off and washed out and put the 500 grit in and started it up, sprayed some water in and left it to go visit the neighbor and eat lunch. Went back to check on the loto and sprayed some water and left it doing great. Went to barn to feed the horses about 5 pm and looked in the office/ rockshop cause I did not hear thebLoto running and shezam!!!! The metal frame broke all the way across between the motor and the board! Then I guess the thing started vibrating so wild that a motor mounting bolt sheared and the bolt shot out and engaged the fan and tore it all up! Somewhere in there the bowl crawled sorta up and sideways and slung rocks, cabs and tumble pendants everywhere!!! The finale tho was I guess when the broken motor mount bolt got caught up inside the motor and shorted it out!!! So I just got a new barrel from the rock shed for dedicated polish so whats left of my Loto is one old barrel that came with it from Mark and the new barrel!!!! The fans are broken, the motor shorted out, the frame broken!!! Oh I guess the springs are still good! Its a disaster!!!

Yikes! that sounds like quite the mess. I don't think I could ever go back to tumbling without a vibe tumbler now so that would shut me down for awhile. The odds of finding a loto on ebay with no barrels are pretty darn slim too.

The cabs r ok, a few narrow thin tumble pendants are broken, the tumbles r ok. The company warrantys the frame for life according to the Rock Shed website. That will help some but still be needing a new motor and a new set of fans. Thats about $120.00 and a complete new one is about $180 plus shipping.

If the frame is guaranteed for life, I wonder if damage caused by it's failure is covered too? It would be worth asking.

Some years ago, after using my Lot-O for many years,I had a crack in the frame.I sent the whole unit back to Tom and when I got it back it looked like new.It had a new base and springs as well.It didn't cost me anything buy shipping. In this world of laws, lawyers, guarantees and warranties I don't know if they'll make good for the entire unit but I would hope so as it was the frame that caused all the other damage. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. connrock

How old is, umm was the tumbler? Things don't last forever and stress cracks can, will and do happen. If the frame is garenteed for life they might get you a new one. Sorry about the loss, if they don't give you another one and you buy a new one you will have a bowl for each grit, that's a plus.

This is a true nightmare of a story for all of us on the boards. In fact, I doubt very strongly that I will sleep well tonight. I don't have a Lot-O but can only imagine it happening to my Ultravibe. I hate it when good machines turn bad...
