This reminds me of some of the Cherry Orchard agate that I have but it doesn't have all that much agate in it. Still, the large splotches of red are pretty neat.

Yup, that's its name. It's also known as "Volcano Agate" and "Swazi Blood Stone". I like "Cherry Orchard" - seems more user friendly or wearer friendly. C-ay, Rick

Hate to disagree but that is not cherry orchard. It's red on a green background. The material pictured is classic Forest Fire jasper ( Tabu Tabu Jasper) also from Africa. It is another breccia always red on black and white backgrounds.....Mel

I had my doubts when I originally posted the pix because they were so different from all the other cherry orchard I have. Denny ps have you visited Bill Morgenstern yet?

Denny, Bill and I have been e-mailng back and forth. Last note I had a couple of week ago, he was closing on his other home and getting ready to set his new home up over at the Wilderness development the other side of town. I guess he's probably pretty busy with that and I'm super booked up till the second or third week in November. Then I hope we can get together for a visit....Mel

As time goes by I really seem to like brecciated rocks/ slabs more and more. They have become some of my favorites.
Really nice Sheltie
Thanks for posting

He's the sort of person that wants to get everything in order before going forward but I know he is really looking forward to visiting with you. He has a huge collection of gems and minerals to die for and also collects rocks.
