I spent my normal two hours this morning cleaning my 16" saw. Nothing particularly unusual about that other than in the six weeks since I last cleaned it, I've slabbed about 400 lbs of most OTHER than agate (jasper etc). This time I had an inordinate amount of pudding and clay to clean and drain. Especially a lot of "clay". Even wearing my shoulder length vet gloves, I got even more dirty than normal because I had to scrape the bottom of the saw extra hard to rid it of the clay.
I've not noticed having that much residue when slabbing agate, although obviously it does leave some. Is it me or is agate "cleaner"?

Is it me or is agate "cleaner"? Denny, It is you, and agate does not seem to have as many soft impurities, etc. that seem to make so much mud and other yuck. The picture jaspers, copper minerals, etc sometimes can get really bad. Still, you got 400 lbs cut - pretty good!

yes, the clear nature of agate means it is purer. The more color the more clay is involved. Lavic jasper is really bad. But really beautiful too!
My homemade agates will be too clear. Once I solve a few more problems.
