I am heading to Scottsdale for work this weekend. While I dont have time to get out and do any hounding, I might have a couple of hours to burn. Does anyone know of a rock shops or suppliers in the area that would be worth visiting for regional rough/slabs?

Interesting Tim I'll have to check out that shop on Alma There suppose to be a shop in old downtown Scottsdale that deals in rocks/cabs maybe gr can chime in on that location
Two major rock shops
Rockazona 101 & Grand ave. ONLY open Friday & Saturdays 9a.m-2p.m
Stick & Stones Apache Junction Just east of Meridian on the North side of Main St.
Both these shops have serious rocks in all forms

Thanks to all for their input on shops in Scottsdale area. I managed to talk a co-worker into driving me (40 minutes each way) to Rockazona which left me about 20 minutes to search thru their rough. They stated they didnt have much "local" material but I found a nice chunk of zebra agate/jasper (not sure which is the right term)which they claimed was from AZ. I found some other small pieces of material - all totaled only 10#s since I had to put it in my carry-on to bring it home. Everything was $3/# so with some searching and selective harvest you can find some good value/deals.
As Mohs eluded to, it is an interesting place. Heads up for any AZ locals, the owner claimed they would be closing the doors within a few years. Might keep your eyes out as a close out sale could yield a killer deal.
Tim - thanks again for the offer, sorry we didnt connect.
Cheers Andy
