Its been a while since I participated here at the forum as life got in the way for a while. Should be back to normal in another month or so.
I have been stuck on some FA's for over a month and I'm still in a general luck-luster to start anything else.
First, there was too much to do with the build up for the wedding and then came the unexpected passing of my father, plus a few other unexpected unpleasant occurrences. So business as usual, "It never rains; but when it does, it pours! "
Final resting place for my father. I do miss that place (Village and surrounding mountains) soooo much.
And then there where six of us
Now with everything over and done with; I'm still stuck at the same piece of Fire Agate
That thing is testing my patience. Its now nearly three weeks of sanding by hand and it seems far from the end.
This piece is really making me re-evaluate everything I have done with FA in the past. It proves to me basically every day how much I don't know about this material. When done, this will be the first true rough to finished piece. Have learned so much already on this piece, and yet its nearly sure that I will have forgotten every lesson, by the time I will need it again.

Overall red, with golden and green shades (half of them metallic), still needs cutting on two sides to give it a final shape.
And when everything is done, then the next challenge will be getting a decent picture showing what I see at hand, to justify a good (expected) 5 weeks on a single piece.
Now while all that was going on, I received another super-shipment from Christopher who again went out of his way to send some interesting extras.
This should be excellent carving material
But I'm most exited about a smaller piece: Near pure white!
And as if this was not enough; another fantastic parcel arrived from Scott (shotgunnerific), with lots of interesting and to me unknown material.
Some smooth looking chert
Some wood
Possible Indian Gold??
Some closeup of the orbs and the golden spray (is it pyrite or copper???)
Completely unknown, yet I like the colors
But the best from this parcel and most puzzling to me is this one. It looks like black agate, but is tense enough to have a very high "Ping" sound, resembling OB, yet the visible breaking edge looks rather more like Jadeite than OB.
Till here for now, Kurt
