I got an order for "something in basic black" and this onyx cax wrapped in sterling is what I came up with: rolanstones - Scott, here's the back: pictures are done with my cellphone, sorry. I was able to clean it up a little but the silver still looks like copper

That is gorgeous! I have a hard time with finishing off wires wrapped around to the back. Is there a trick to it?

Thank you Scott. And you cleaned up the color too! You are welcome, and this is your photo. I just copied and pasted, no adjustments made (did not need any)

That is gorgeous! I have a hard time with finishing off wires wrapped around to the back. Is there a trick to it? I just tuck them under the back frame. Clip the wires about 1/4 inch past the frame wire and use needlenose pliers to curve the end under the frame wire. Pinch it down gently so you don't leave marks and you're done. Very secure, especially if you tumble to harden the wire

holy smokes! That's blacker than a witch's soul at midnight on the winter solstice, deep in a cave.............
after the batteries ran out in the flashlight.
With shine so fine, I can almost read the warning label on the light source.
Great work!!

very nice. Tight and clean looking. Thanks for the shot of the back and the tip about tucking those wires.

Went to deliver it last night and he said it was too big(20x30mm) & he wanted a whole set of the "swirly stuff" that I do! So here's round 2: these cabs are only 10x15. The joke's going to be on him though. I know his wife - he'll be back for the big one! 2 sales for me! and for Scott - here's the back: It's messier looking than a border wrap but this is what keeps all those curls in place.

Nice work! And congrats on the sale(s). I haven't done a Preston wire sculpt in a long time. Thanks for reminding me Think that might be on my to do list today. I did one once with copper and then fumed it with ammonia- turned out really cool. It looked like an antique.

I love the look you can get with ammonia! Unfortunately, I'm allergic to it. I've tried the hard boiled egg method with limited results and you can get some really cool finishes with baking soda and vinegar but you need flat stock for that - wire's too small for the effects. I need to get some LOS. I really love your pieces that you patina with it.

The contrast of the pure black with the silver really pops.
