Hello All, I'm new to the site and new~ish to collecting. I only began collecting in earnest and trying to learn about gems and minerals this year. Kicked off this new hobby accidentally by visiting an old Army buddy in Idaho. I didn't even know it was the Gem State before he offered to take me out hunting! I have barely stopped to take a breath since then. Unfortunately, here in Texas it's hard to come by too many spectacular minerals or land that isn't private to hunt on, but I am sure trying. I am going on digs almost every other week and usually I can find a park, roadcut, creek, riverbed, etc. in between. Now I know why everyone talks about all of the rocks that they have piled up. Doesn't take long! Well, I have learned a great deal from info that good folks like yourselves have put on the internet and I hope to be able to contribute some myself. I'm also excited about the idea of swapping items. Ok, that's it for now! ~Roland

Hey Snuffy,
I'm just a little ways north of Austin. I'll be heading out to Mason County tomorrow to see what I can dig up. Then I will be out in Houston on Sunday and heading back through your area on Monday. I might make a couple of stops along the way based on some stories I've heard from others in a local club.

Hah! It's great to meet all of you! There is actually a beer that I recently discovered that I really enjoy called Sisyphus! I had never heard the name before so I researched it. Who would have known it would all come full circle here? I guess this is the support group for this addiction. Just don't try to talk me into quitting!!

That's funny too! Isn't there a beer named Rolling Rock? It must be the parent company of Sisyphus.
