My sarcastic chauvinistic loathing southern side wants to come out and play with you on this kind and well thought out answer.
The straight side of me agrees to your well worded answer to my question and owes you a thanks.
Then i remembered who i was talking to and would be well processed either way. So i pick the straight answer sensing i might get a whipping the other way.

What, and you're afraid of a little whipping?

1976 is when I was in Alabama.
But did you understand my explanation? About the depth in that coral?

A special year indeed then. Yes and you will have some in hand soon to see if photo = reality.

Temporary, one year almost exactly to the day. I seriously doubt that, James. I think they forgot me a loooong time ago. I'm sure I didn't leave a lasting impression on anyone. Well, maybe my boss at the autobody shop...

Yeah, well I sucked at auto body repair. I'm too much of a perfectionist, took three times longer than it should take. Seems I was more useful as a gofer, mixing up paint, primer, getting supplies. Guess we all have our best uses.

A special year indeed then. Yes and you will have some in hand soon to see if photo = reality. James, the "goodies" arrived today, thanks so much! I think the photos = reality, they are everything that was promised! While they are all awesome, there's at least a dozen or so that have the "depth", the galaxies of corallites. You need to tell me which ones you want cabbed. The USPS tried their darndest to smash that package up. It was a bit crumbled, but it held up. I took a photo of it before opening it, and more of some of the corals, but they may have to wait until Monday for me to post. I'll probably go through the box and take more photos when I have some time. Need to finish loading up and get out of here sometime this evening for a couple days in the desert. Thank you, James!

Yes, heading out 8 east, almost to Arizona. (Google "American Girl Mine" to see location in the Cargo Muchacho Mtns. The area is maybe ten-fifteen miles south of Indian Pass where the dumortierite is found.) The area has produced a lot of gold over the years. A local shop that sells prospecting equipment treats his customers to a weekend of prospecting (mostly dry-washing - a little too dusty for my tastes!) and "nugget shooting" with metal detectors. Also a BBQ Saturday night. The store owner is also in the propecting club we joined. His store sells the metal detectors, and if you buy one from him, he will make sure that you learn how to use it. It's about $700 for one that would do the job. Maybe later. It's about a four hour drive, so won't be getting out there until late. Will be back late Sunday. The weather should be absolutely beautiful. Yes, I know, pictures or it didn't happen, lol! This weekend I will truly be incommunicado. Well, I have my not so smart (actually, pretty dumb) phone, not 3 or 4G, coverage in some places. But no wifi to participate in forum . Figure I got a couple more hours to finish up, hook up the trailer and pull it out onto the street.
