All are keepers, but I would not have recognized the Clay Canyon specimen. When I see the green of the Lucins, I automatically think variscite.

Ya had to go and show us those variscite slabs, dincha, Dave? I've got a nodule laying about somewhere, looks like the second pic (Lucin 02). Dang it, now I'm gonna have to go hunt it up.
Nice lookin' stuff, Dave.

Okay, I found the nodule I was looking for. Unfortunately, Photobucket seems to be down right now. I uploaded to Flickr, but I don't see how to get links.
Edit - photos added to photobucket, posting here for your convenience. I know how y'all like to have the photos on the page, and not have to click a link! I'll figure out flickr some other day.
Dave, let me know what you think. Same same? Or something else? Jean

Nice nugget! Defiantly (word I meant!) Variscite. It is nice to have, makes you feel loose like a long neck goose etc. It is soft but takes a killer polish!

Dave, thanks for the defiant confirmation! I don't know where that nodule came from, but I picked it up at an estate sale, rock show, or swap meet. I'm sure I paid next to nothing for it. Jean

One of my very favorite cabbing materials, have always wanted a big slab from an old green monster nodule, but nowadays they're rare and valuable.

The first looks like it would make a fine specimen if face-polished. Those can fetch high prices (especially if you can identify some of the other minerals it contains). The second and third could be used for either specimens or cut up for gems, but probably fetch less than the Clay Canyon slice. They are beautiful pieces. There are price-tracking lists, but they are mostly accurate for the more widely known gem types. The ISG Price Guide isn't much help on variscite prices – would be really difficult, as there is so much variability in the patterns and colors.

Don't bother Tommy, I can do that for you. Let's see... Six photos, shouldn't take too long.

I especially love this Clay Canyon Sphere. Something to aspire to? I mostly just make slabs for my retirement fund now. I love cutting on the saws and haven't touched a sphere machine in a long time. Roger ruined me with a hundred balls a week production...
