Interesting slant on things AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing!
The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this...
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin . Allow me to restate that number: 600,000
Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran . More than France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more. The point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
*************************************** That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed. Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.
Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain... What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens???
For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

Wow wow wow, those are some staggering numbers. I also had no idea there are that many hunters. And the biggest share of them have the woods skills that it took to win the revolutionary war if you think about it.
Another aspect of gun confiscation is that the population of hunted animals would swell to the point of eating every bit of green in the country including our food. There is no way that guns can go away. They would have to hire an army to depopulate wild game. Jim

From FWS The most recent survey report (2006) indicated in that year: Think about how many guns have been sold since 2006. . .
12.5 million people 16 years old and older enjoyed hunting a variety of animals within the United States. They hunted 220 million days and took 185 million trips. Hunting expenditures totaled $22.9 billion. An estimated 10.7 million hunters pursued big game, such as deer and elk, on 164 million days. There were 4.8 million hunters of small game including squirrels and rabbits. They hunted small game on 52 million days and spent $2.4 billion on small game hunting trips and equipment. 2.3 million hunted migratory birds such as doves or waterfowl 1.1 million hunted other animals such as woodchucks and raccoons

How's this? Nationwide licenses are around 15 million and that don't count folks who just shoot paper or plate like me who are often ex military and more avid shooters than hunters. Quite a little army we have here just like the framers of our constitution had in mind, the government sleezebags who are always after our rights should be aware of that.....Mel
PS: Hunting is one of the biggest industries in our little towns of Kerrville and Frederickburg.

I would say most of those hunters would be damn good soldiers if the enemy entered the woods.
If any group of Americans are going to be the majority gun owner let it be the hunters. It is on average a great bunch.

The threat to gun owners is not a hostile foreign invasion. The threat is an economic war and the American politicians who are enabling it. Also, it is not the enemies from other countries coming here that is a threat. They all know that to land troops on out soil will do no good because we will mow them like the grass. The threat to gun ownership is the government making it hard to get ammo, supplies and the like.
Look at the recent BS about new copper ammo. Years ago they did research on what we could use to cast bullets. The only thing they we able to come up with that did not destroy the gun or cost a fortune, while maintaining accuracy was lead. If other metals did not work well as rifle bullets then, how can they magically work now.
The whole lead debacle is an anti-gun propaganda machine.
And that, my friends, is the real threat to guns. Politicians.

I would like to see the statistics on the number of bullets that are in the hands of gun owners at this moment even though hunting season is coming to a close. Nobody is going to go out and shoot their last box of ammo. Jim

I just have to assume that a very large percentage of our hunters are veterans. Consider facing an old, cranky, pissed off veteran with a rifle the equivalent of a sniper rifle. Whilst, I usually hunt with a traditional muzzleloader at less than 100 yards, I am known to punch paper at 1000 yards. Put foreign troops in my backyard, and I can make the switch from paper to camo. Go back a few years, and read the studies both Germany, and Japan made in regard to the large numbers of armed Americans ...and Canadians.

Not thinking we need to be concerned about foreign troops, the fifth column led by our supposed commander in chief is much more worrisome.

Yep, it's looking more and more like Chris Christy will be the Republican nominee next presidential election and he's strongly anti gun. We're gonna be facing a two edged sword there as , as shown in the Virginia election ,if third party candidates run, you get a Democratic win. Democrats tend to vote as a block whereas Republicans are split into small government libertarians that are socially liberal, and ultra right wing social conservatives that are all about abortion, anti gay etc. Republicans need to get it together and become more socially liberal and small government, pro gun, fiscal conservatives or else they are just going to drive more folks into a third party and guarantee many years of left wing Democratic rule. The country as a whole is center right ( especially on social issues) not ultra right and Republicans have to remember this....Mel

Most of the hunters i know including my self are quite comfortable and qualified taking whitetail.
If an enemy wants to be quieter and cleverer than a whitetail i wish him a lot of luck.
Like foxtail said. politics and other forms of warfare will be required by our dear enemies.
Those issues present huge issues. Welcome to the modern world. No fun anymore.

And then, AFTER we are disarmed, then and only then will a foreign force invade our soil. And the ironic thing about it is that those traitors in our government and the corporate world who enabled this will be the first ones dragged into the streets and shot.
China will not show any gratitude.
