Who am I? a brief bio: Early on I accepted the scriptural admonition to “Seek not for riches but for wisdom,” I've ended up mediocre Rich/Poor, but content with the way my life has turned out.
I have always been a reader, devoured every book in Austin Texas Pease Elementary school where I was proclaimed on graduation to have the reading ability of a senior in high school. My single Mom worked at Steck Publishing co. always bringing home new books in addition to my raiding the city library. To all my friends constant chagrin my reading has continued unabated.
One of my early Pease teachers had a large pyrite cube on her desk, teaching me my first mineral. Love of rocks grew from there.
In 1955 I began studying to become a geologist, but retired as a “heavy duty” electrician, having worked mainly on coal fired powerhouses.
In 1960 I met Bob Rollins who had sold his Las Vegas jewelry shop and moved to Orem Utah, wired his home and helped him set up his lapidary shop. In exchange he taught me rockhounding, lapidary, and silversmithing.
Poor health forced my retirement in 1999. We then moved to southwestern Utah, and here I be thoroughly enjoying RTH.
