I bought this small camera because I wanted to have a camera I could just slip in and out of my pocket when hounding and to take shots of the slabs I cut as they come off the blade. For a long time, it did a good job but then I started experimenting. Bad mistake! Now, when I turn it on, all systems are go except for one - the most important one. It won't show me what I'm looking to take a picture of! The screen is blank other than the symbols that show up around the screen. I've looked and looked at the manual and can't find out what the problem is. I'm reasonably sure it is operator malfunction but in the meantime I have a worthless camera.
I know some of you out there have this or similar cameras or are just knowledgeable in cameras in general and may be able to tell me what I need to do to correct the problem. I hope!

Yeah, what Mike said. Just take it to a local camera shop and get the dude behind the counter to correct it.
I owned my Rebel DSLR for three years before I learned it could preview the pic on the screen. I thought only more expensive models did that! lol

Disp. button should be the one on the bottom left, next to the menu button.

Just a thought. Have you looked to see if the lens cover is opening? Jim

Push the "disp" button if it has one All this does is display the mode I'm using (i.e., "Auto). The screen stays blank.

Take a walk thru Canon's website, they have had some problems w/some cameras, and are willing to fix them no matter how old; if it proves to be their problem. They took care of ours [A70] a few years ago, even paid postage both ways. It's our "point and shoot" camera now, worked fine since the fix. Larry
