Not much here on the ranch but flint but this is what I get from just SE of San Antonio down George West way. Lots and lots of varieties of colorful petrified wood and wood casts. This is the tumble stuff from my last two hunts....Mel

I like your variety, colors and patterns. Extra nice are a couple of the agates. Work your magic on them.

Here's a sample of rocks from northern Colorado. I just picked these up today and got done washing them up. Agate, jasper, wood and a nice little piece of epidosite. The whole batch Agate closeup, this was a big honkin chunk with some nice red bits wood: And the best for last, the epidosite:

Yea I scored on that one. It's all over the west side of the Pawnee I've got a big ol bucket of it.I have to force myself not to pick it up anymore unless it's a nice one like that. Man Tim that Epidosite is sweet! I love that banding, haven't found much that nice myself.

Yeah I've picked up some nice Epidosite on the west side of PNG as well, but that lighter/lime and striped pattern is really awesome.
It cabs up nice, too!

that epidosite is amazing! love the petrified woods. I haven't been hunting as much lately I want to get through what I have before I collect more (space is limited!), but i'll and post some more photos of what I have soon. I want to get out and get some really special bits this winter while the storms are bad, best collecting conditions!

Fossiler those rocks look not too dissimilar to the stuff I find, but that's hardly surprising given the proximity of location! Would love to try tumbling some petrified wood one day. Looks amazing!

Here are some from Lake Michigan that I found over the summer. Any help in ID'ing some of them would be very helpful. I plan to polish them over the winter Batch 1: Dry - looks likes some Jaspers adn agate pieces. The center one looks and feels waxy. The upper right one looks like a polychromatic jasper but I do not think this is possible in Michigan Batch 1: wet A great day at the beach (Petoskey stones - upper left, quartz, granite, agate chips - middle, slag - right and bottom, misc. fossils - left, chain coral - upper right, horn coral - upper middle) Large Chain Coral Large Petoskey stones from a quarry (too large to take) Another really good day at the beach with the kids, who found most of these Petoskey stones

I love that chain coral. I haven't found any yet. I have a book that explains how to soak it in acid to remove all the matrix, leaving just the chain coral behind. When I find a piece, that's what I'm going to do with it.
