Well tonight was our monthly rockhounding club meeting. I went expecting the standard fare; show and tell, some friendly banter, a presentation etc. I forgot it was the annual member's only silent auction! Ended up with about 10# of small chunks of rough blue forest wood that I will try to cut up and shine a bit before presenting here, a small bit of lab crystal bismuth for my son who came along (tucked by his bed because he went straight to bed so no pic) But I also managed to pick up about 3-4# of Wyoming Jade slabs and pieces Also got a couple nice-ish chunks of Australian Chrysoprase (dime for reference): just a pic of the sale; this is near the end, most of the tables are put away but still plenty of activity. I wish I'd have brought more cash; I found some awesome dino bone slabs for $10 a pair and didn't have anything left to buy them with!:

Sucks when you run out of cash but it looks like you got some nice stuff.
If you are looking to buy some fist sized Wyoming nephrite that will tumble polish real nice let me know. I have a half bucket or so. Jim

Jim do you have any apple green jade? I need to buy more rocks like I need more holes in my head but that is something I've been trying to find.
Also would you be interested in a trade I may have something of interest to you.

I have not found any apple jade ;( I will be moving so no matter how much I would like to make a trade I am having a hard time trying to figure out what rocks I can take, what rocks to sell and which rocks to just leave here. Any way I look at it I am not going to be able to take as much as I want. Jim

You can NEVER have enough rock! Remember, humans are living longer than ever before.
Nice chrysoprase. Can't believe you missed out on the dino bone. I would have been "panhandling" to find the $10.
Darryl.

I was always amazed by that stuff. Something about crystal edges forming faster than crystal faces forming a "hopper" crystal.
Ironically, the November issue of Rock & Gem talks about bismuth in the Kids Section. Definitely popular with kids, and kids at heart.
Darryl.

Nice haul, imagine what you might have bought if you rememberd it was happening! I can, I think we all can, relate. I definately have more rocks than I could ever cab in my life time, yet I keep buying. Nice bismuth crystal, it's a keeper.
