I don't know if I want to call some of these cabs because they're getting pretty big so call them whatever you want! LOL My joints are starting to look a little better but I'm still not there yet!I'm finding that the appearance of the joints seems to depend on the material (rocks)a lot. I'm not sure what the inner piece int his one but it reminds me of a Bad Hair Day! LOLThe frame is Brazillian Agate and the back is some sort of very dark gray material? This one has black obsidian in the center framed with a local white marble. The outer pieces are also obsidian,,,I believe it's mahogany obsidian. The joints came out pretty good on this one,,,, The next one is my favorite out all I have done so far.I call it "Reflections"! The center reminds me of mountains reflecting in a lake. I don't know what the material is but I got it from Jamie(desertdweller) a long time ago.The outer pieces are the same material and the inner frame is made from green moss agate from India. I'm working on 2 more right now and I don't think I'll ever attempt to make anything like these 2 again! One is sort of diamond shaped and it ended up shaped like that due to "damage control" more then design! LOL The other one has 2 fairly large curves,,,about 2" in length.Trying to get to perfect joints with an inner curve and outer curve is giving me fits and this one may end up looking like a diamond too,,,,after all the damage control!LOL I'm having a terrible time trying to flat lap the joints on all of these as I can't really see what I'm doing,,,,kinda like a blind welder! LOL connrock

"Good Job" just doesn't hack it here. Very nice! The first is tad large for a ring, but would make a fab belt buckle!

Very nice work there, and an excellent choice/combination of materials. First thing in my mind when I saw the obsidian one was "two-way wrist T.V".

Well, Mr. Tom, if you're out of words maybe you should turn back to your cabbing machine and enchant us with some more of your wonderful intarsias. The only problem is that you might expect another wave of (fully deserved) words of praise, which again would let you speechless and then again ... and so on Adrian

Adrian. Its a common hazard around here. But,..... yes, well deserved praise for outstanding workmanship resulting in some fantabolous eye-candy. Personally, I too like the third best. The dark ring from the backing adds another level of complexity that fascinates the eye (mine at least).
