We spent much of this last summer building an addition to the house, under which is now a dedicated rock storage. Our rock had been in several places mostly in the basement. The additions basement is not accessible from the old basement although on the same level. Here is what the nearly 200 bins of rock storage looks like now. A wee bit OCD being all labeled, and most even dated.I counted the bins so I could do a spread sheet. There are 306 of them....I need more rock! Woody Right side Left side, and centre. Closer view of centre bins.

That is amazing . So organized. Don't think I'll let the wife see this post. It will give her ideas and I only have a tenth of that !

That's one heck of a setup. Dare I ask how long it took to accumulate that much rock?

The only cost for the bins was nails, and glue. The wood came from construction site scrap, and they were happy to see in go away. I did post drawings for the bins a while back. The bin sizes take advantage of scrap size to minimize waste.
I CAN just hear the wife saying "Now Honey, see what Woody did with all those rocks" Sorry guys.

Mr Woody ! I would not like to be near your home if a F 5 tornado hit your place ! When hauling rock from fieldtrips I always thought if I had a wreck, I might be killed by flying rocks and boulders ! Very nice set up on your rock storage !

Man that's a lot of rock, not to mention a lot of time to build the bins. I'll be building my basement rock shop this winter and haven't come up with a good storage solution yet.

My mind is officially boggled - !!! nice work indeed. Just a quick question. How does the amy sage come OUT of the bin in this image? It'sa big hunk and the opening seems to small. Oh yes, and congratulations on the correct implementation of a good case of OCD.. lol

Sometimes it is necessary to move bins to get material out.
