Did you ever pick up any around Roundup. We took the girl scouts out picking once. Way cool. I was not into rocks at the time but I really liked those. Jim

Jim Jim,I didn't know sapphires were in that area! I know a few garnet areas, that Uncle Henry showed me,that about it for gems, that I knew of.... I'm in Roundup about every other year,I 'll have to ask around.... Thanks for the heads up Jim....

This is my second run on sapphires,we have over 174 of them now. I just have to find a gem artist in the USA,if not they head to the Tiawan or South east Asia....

From some talk about American companies with cutting and treating, some will sky rocket the price a bit... I've heard of Bangkok being a heads up.Some of my Canada friends deal with them...Rockncajun huh,,Thumbs up

Fossilman, don't underestimate the value of a small stone. If they are clear with no inclusions, they can be cut into very nice show pieces. I have cut some really small sapphires that had great sparkle.

Because this thread and holiday down time collided. I have sorted half of my 25# of gravel. So far I have 23 stones some two rubies, one purple, mostly blues, a yellow and a clear. SIL has a kiln so I think I'll do the heat treat myself and send them to Thailand.

Ray,I'll work a deal with you too....I have quite a few gems and would "horsetrade" with you.... Scott, what would you charge to heat treat the sapphires? Headed out of town in an hour or so,so will PM you both,,when I get back(If that's alright)....Headed to the coast for a few days to unwind!!!
