Well as a complete shock to us we had someone ask if we would be able to make between 40 and 50 of our cabochon topped wine stoppers as corporate Christmas gifts for clients. Part of the catch is that they want a majority of the stones to be Michigan stuff so this is taking a toll on my higher grade pudding stone slabs. The kicker is that I just found out 2 days ago and only have about 2 weeks to get these delivered. Anyways, here is what I got done so far this weekend. Should get the exact amount needed from the customer tomorrow to continue. These are the largest cabs I ever do at 2" tall and 1.5" wide I added a couple Kona Dolomite ones and the customer likes those too so might be doing more. I'll keep posting as get the order further along Chuck

Really nice work.... Love the stones.. Do you only put a cab on one side or do you put a cab on both sides? Keep us informed as you go... Deb

stone just goes on one side but if someone wants to pay for it then both would be possible. The stoppers I use are stainless steel on the portion that goes in the bottle and polished chrome on the upper piece so the backs are nicely polished.

Thanks Rich. I made a template that gets me close with the 80 grit wheel then I hold the stone against the actual mounting surface to see what areas need tweaked and fine tune the shape with the 220 wheel till its right on. I guess these would be considered calibrated cabs.

Whoo hoo! When it rains, it pours, right? I'd go for it, too. You chose some really choice rough to work with. Yeah, I'd call those calibrated.
