Preliminary photos of the first hounding trip. I did not take many because I knew that I could steal what I want from Jean who I am sure will be posting bunches when she gets back to her computer. This is some of the area that we were in. My first time really out in the desert so I was pretty excited about it all and loving the scenery. ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240043.jpg) ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240038.jpg) ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240036.jpg) ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240035.jpg) ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240037.jpg) This is Robin the truck driver. She is new to the forum and pretty new to lapidary. Robin rode with me on the trip and she is a hoot. She made a great day much greater for me and everyone liked her a lot. She had been here for a few days before the hounding trip and as soon as we got back I dropped her at her truck (which she said had a few hundred extra pounds of rock) so she could head down the road to get to her next load. She put together a slide show of her photos and I hope she posts it because it is a superb story of the rock show. Thanks for the company Robin. This is a self portrait that was in her slide show. ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P2200004d.jpg) Jean was giving me a hard time because there are no photos of me on the forum. Here is me. ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P2200004b.jpg) Here is me leaning against a cactus taking a nap. There is an incredible story behind this photo but I am going to let Diane or Jean tell it ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P3240041.jpg) And the gangs all here. ![](http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/wampidy/posted/Quartzsite/P2200004c.jpg) Just a snack. I am sure there will be many more to come. I did not go today because yesterday did in my back so that trip will all be up to the others. I met a group of super people and this trip will always be in my memory. I think. Memory is weak. lol Thanks for looking, wish ya'll could have been there. Jim

I'll post the cactus story in another thread since this one is getting so long. Cathy, talkingstones has been volunteered to be the official picture taker of the BBQ so bug her afterwards for pictures ;-)
Great pics Jim.

I was great meeting you Jim, as well as Robin and the other newer members I met. It was also great seeing other good friends again (like Tony, Catmandew and his wife Chris). We always love our visit to the desert but its even better to meet with friends out there. I didn't go on this trip but will post the photos I took of the Planet Mine trip on another thread.

I saw some great pics on Face book but this is a fun report, it does me good to see you all together, although I'll admit some envy for what must be a great time.

Great trip report. And even greater to see that everyone had fun. Jim, she is right. I just saw John had posted a picture of you at the BBQ, and got so exited to finally see the person behind a lot of great works, I had to share it.

Shoot, I was having too much fun so didn't get any pictures. I left that up to the official BBQ photographer whose battery ran out of juice (Cathy).

It was a blast! Eva and I sincerely enjoyed seeing and meeting everyone - I didn't want to name names because I'll probably forget someone but it was great to see our friends Scott and Jean and Bob - as well as new friends Tony and wife, Gary (gr) Cathy and husband, Sheri, Diane, Tim, Brian and wife, Christopher and his awesome family, Wampidy, Ed (mostly), Tom with the killer verde-chili, Russ, John (JS Gems), and last but not least Jeremy, Scott's rockstar friend who had the killer rocks (Wingate, Paul Bunyon, Eagle Peak, Sheeps Gate, and on and on... I'm sure I missed someone so forgive me and smack me upside the head to reboot the computer.

Tommy it was great meeting you and Eva too. She is such a sweetheart and a great hugger! I think you remembered more names than I do.

We got home about three hours ago, truck is unloaded, wood stove is going, well pump turned back on, laundry going. Great trip. It was great meeting everyone-although I think there were a few I missed meeting, and I've already confused myself on a few names and faces. Everyone we met was just super, the field trips were fun and productive, and I'd do the whole thing over again tomorrow. Guess we'll wait until next year. Thanks to everyone for everything.

Russ, it was great meeting you and I agree, the field trips were fun and productive. Thanks for the foot "up" on finding the missing piece of gem silica ;-) John, hope you do make it next year.

Well, we got home too!- was -1 when we landed but did get up to +4 later in the day----sure had fun meeting everyone at the bbq and had fun shopping all week --didn't go on any of the digs because of flying but did manage 6 big frb's and 8 medium rfb's ,plus a friend took 6 boxes (bigger than frber's) home with him that I will have to get later this summer--only thing I can say is never fly, always drive and pull a trailer hehe!! and take lots of money!!! with all the wide eyed looks I saw , I say everyone was enjoying themselves too !!
