It really DOES have arsenic in it.
I have access to equipment that can detect most elements in just about any type of sample. So I ran a slab of bumblebee. Mostly calcium from the travertine type matrix, but with some sulfur, arsenic, and iron.
I guess the yellow color is orpiment then?

The yellow is sulfur. This rock comes from volcanic lava pools and sulfurous hot springs in Indonesia. BTW - be VERY careful to wear a good respirator if you grind or saw any of this stuff - There's arsenic in it. c-ya, Rick

I guess that's a rock you shouldn't lick, then, eh?

The easy way is qualitative, but it is capable of quantitative if I feel like futzing with the helium regulator. I can detect just about anything on the periodic table between magnesium and uranium except for the noble gases.

This is special material as it is hard as jasper, but the color of variscite.

when we first open the container at Tucson the sulphur smell is overwhelming from the Bumblebee. Even the crates make the tent smell if theres no breeze
