Balance is important. It has to hang right from the necklace. Depending on the thickness being uniform I take a piece of scrap wire and loop it around the cab and come up the back and bend a hook and see how it hangs. I have wrapped odd shaped ones and they hung wierd and sorta sidewazy. Hey I am just learning so I look 4ward to other peoples solutions. I like the cab, picasso marble is great! No pits, vugs, fractures or uneven softness undercutting! Merry Xmas!

yeah, it gets odd because to hang straight your bail might no be right on center. Might need to be a little to the left. I did my first one in a similar shape a few weeks ago. I cut the swirls off this before I sold it though. Chuck

Trace around the stone, draw a line straight up from the bottom tip- that will be your center. Mark the top of the cab in that spot with a dot of a sharpie. When you make the bends for your bail you will have a good reference point.

I have done a few of those myself and I do it the same way Tela does, you just have to remember that one side of the bail might be shorter then the other, you just have to compensate and make it shorter so that the bail is even at the top or else it will hang funny.
