Hi all, In your opinion, where is the best place to sell finished cabs? I put a few here on the sale board, lotsa lookers but no bids, even tho I priced them below what the rough cost me.
Thanks! Phil

I would guess a lot of people here make their own cabs, hence the lack of sales. I don't have experience selling them, so take this for what it's worth. It appears that a lot of people have etsy shops and others sell on ebay; I don't know how successful people are there. Bikerrandy and others sell at craft shows.
Hope that helps a little.

So far this has been a bust for me, but I will suggest it nonetheless; Facebook has a thriving cab, rough, faceted, slabbed, wrapped etc. market and once people get to know you (they don't yet know me well, which is why I suspect my sales have been nonexistent) folks seem to do fairly well. You'll need to be let into a group, and of course you will already need to be on Facebook, but I do see folks moving cabs there. The ratio of cabbers to non-cabbers is much better there than here

From what I have seen with regard to selling cabs there are a lot of cabs on sale on Ebay from China for a buy it now or best offer price between $5.00 & $6.00. How can you make money at that price point? Especially after you figure in the time and cost of material. I think to even have a chance in making $ you would have to be selling cabs made out of more desirable and more limited material. With that sort of material you will have less competition. However with that sort of material your cost will be a lot greater and you would really have to have a good understanding as to what size and shape cab would be in most demand. Stu

I sell a few on etsy. It is true that there are Chinese vendors to compete with, but good handmade American cabs do sell for their worth. People are always looking for quality and are willing to pay for it.

I sell more cabs on Etsy then I do on Ebay but I try to leave at least a couple things on Ebay knowing that a lot of people do not even know about Etsy. Cabs seem harder to sell then finished products. Selling is not much fun for me. Lately I have been letting my 14 yr old son take all my pictures and update the Etsy store with new items. He gets %10 of any sales of items he added to the site unless its something he made then he gets it all.

Canadians make good cabs too!, so does everyone else when made with love and care:) Just joshing with you I know exactly what you meant. Machine made or mass produced in "slave" shops will never compare to a well made, hand cut cabs. Just thought I would be a big of a smart a**ed Canadian this morning, not that there are not smart a**ed Americans too:) Love ya all, have a great day.

And, I'm really glad that you knew I didn't mean any offense and none to any Chinese artisans, either- just the factories.

Are you on FB Phil? If so, PM me, if you want to lol, and I'll friend you and add you to a cab group that I am in. GREAT folks on that group, though I have not tried to sell any.

I did, but the market around here is for finished jewelry, not the "makin's".

We have sold a few pieces to jewelry makers we meet at shows. most of what has sold has been drilled vibe tumbled pendant cabs, Probably because they sell for less since we have so much less time into them and they are made fron the left overs after we remove the preforms for the high end cabs.

If you work with local stone and are in a tourist area some of the gift shops will buy pendants. Not sure about just cabs unless they are people that turn them into jewelry themselves. Sometimes people buy local rocks as souvenirs so they may pick cabs out of a box if it has name, rank and serial number. Jim
