Made it out yesterday and am back home today. What a trip. Just my transportation yesterday was outrageous. A 20 minute cab ride to the heliport, a 4 hour boat ride to the platform, and6 a one minute crane ride on to the platform. I spent 5 hours on the platform, 15 minutes of which was to accomplish what I was sent to do. Then a 30 minute helicopter ride, a 25 minute cab ride, a 20 minute plane ride, and finally a 10 minute cab ride to my house. Getting craned onto the boat This was our first stop Not much scenery Monopod Home for the day. Anna Platform The Frog crew basket Later, boat.

Yeah, I don't keep a set of gear at my house (800 miles from where I work) so they had to get me a purchase order to get some in town on Friday. By a happy coincidence I had a set of coveralls at home so Ray could fix the zipper. She fixed it Friday night for me. I was able to steal a hard hat from one of the managers in the Anchorage office and used my rock saw safety glasses. It was balmy, almost 40 degrees. The trip out was a mix of slush and rain, then on the rig it cleared up and started cooling down.

Oh, prolly because he was on shift and bizzy somewhere else. Therefore they had to trouble you and ur family and spend $20K in fixing the issue. Plus down time aint cheap.

Because of the holidays there are no seats on any of the 4 carriers that fly out of Pbay until Tuesday. Amazingly, they weren't able to pull out of hole before I got there. Kept getting stuck. So We dodged the $20,000 an hour fee for them waiting on us.

That in itself seems odd. They weren't drilling (making money) due to the error. The pullout was due to the error, I woulda thunk your company would be on the hook anyway. I guess that's not the way it works.

No, It was a back up tool that they were going to pick up as soon as they were out. They should have been out Friday, but thanks to shitty formation, they're still stuck.

That actually makes it more annoying... He got one out configured right, but completely messed up the back up.

Great pics, thanks for posting! I didn't realize you had platforms up there. We dive on ours down here, and when I used to work for oil companies, I visited one, that was cool. The basket was a little scary at first. That just looks coooooold though!

That is some cold, lonely country. But I bet in the 12 days of summer it is spectacular!

Thanks for giving us "Some" of the sense of what it takes to get to your job. Sounds like an adventure just getting there. Very interesting.
