Just getting around to posting my final cabs from 2013. These are the doublets I made during the year. Green moss backed by howlite with silver tinted glue. Stinking water plume backed by basenite. Unknown plume with howlite backing. Stinking water plume with blue tinted glue. Carnelian backed with howlite and silver tinted glue. Unknown backed by howlite and silver tinted glue. Stinking water plume backed with howlite and yellow tinted glue. Unknown backed by howlite and silver tinted glue. Eagle peak plume backed by howlite. Flame agate backed with howlite. Stinking water plume backed by basenite and green tinted glue. Horse canyon moss backed by howlite. Stinking water plume with blue tinted glue. Stinking water plume with yellow tinted glue. Stinking water plume with red tinted glue. Unfortunately I got it too hot during polishing and it cracked.

Very artistic cabs. I think I like the dark ones, (blue, black and green ones) best because of the greater contrast.....Mel

Very nice job on all of them. I think the Carnelian is my favorite with the Horse Canyon Moss coming in second. I am the type who prefers the natural colors but will admit the different colors are pretty cool.

I love the carnelian, too. You really brought these to life... or full potential.

I have a couple questions if you don't mind... What glue did you use? 330? And, how did you tint the glue. Was it just food coloring?

Thanks everyone.
I just use normal 2 part epoxy. The color I add is a product called Pearl Ex, which I'm told is made from mica stone. Its an extremely fine powder that comes in 48 colors and it mixes well in the epoxy. The Pearl Ex is pearlescent, so the cabs flash in the light.

Tom, most artist supply stores should carry it. I get mine from Dick Blick who does sell online.

those are very cool, all of them! I had no idea that someone could tint the epoxy! Thank you for telling us how you did it. I think this is a pretty great idea for those clear and white agates, no dyes and such. Awesome!
