I like Scott's Work In Progress (WIP) threads, so I will give it a try. Here's a chunk of jade that should make two 2 inch spheres. I bought this a couple of years ago from a local sphere maker who makes a lot of jade spheres.

I can get some slabs for cabs though. I wish my camera phone could take better pictures to show the dark green color.

I took off too much on my last cut. I was distracted when I set up the number of turns on the crossfeed thickness.

I put this project aside for a while but finally got back to it. For some reason, during grinding the sphere turned into a oblong shape and I never could get it back to a sphere. I did finish polishing it just to see how it would turn out and it wasn't too bad. It ended up at 1.5" diameter. I also managed to make 2 lepidolite spheres and a labradorite sphere.
