Found a wonderful tattoo a few years back of an angel on its knees with head on his arms. Now finally, I had the chance to recreate that "my way" in Sodalite. I call it "Feeling Blue" I'm wearing it now for nearly two days and it still surprises me from time to time with its huge range in color, pending on light-conditions. Till this afternoon, I was not so sure if I should enter this piece in a bead-contest, as it gave me a lot of grief taking pictures over these past few days with nearly every pic looking awful, and somehow unfinished or even broken. The worst look comes to be, in direct sunlight when I look down at it. Then, today, I went for a walk with the dogs and we moved through some undergrowth. The light was just perfect, and my camera finally relented and agreed too. The beginning, showing the sheen quite clearly A stage between And finished. Still got a huge range in color, from "Ink-blue" as seen in my avatar, to what you see below. Every time you change something slightly and the color changes with it. Still got to figure out a way to capture the Schiller, chatoyancy, sheen or whatever this play of color is called. My favorite color thus far Sodalite: 37 x 39mm (yes it is slightly wider than tall, as I tried to test durability of the material and ended up not breaking the feather stretching out on the left) Thanks for your time looking at my creations and your continued interest in this part of the hobby, Kurt

Beautiful finished piece, but very interesting also to see the stages.

That is amazingly beautiful... and it looks like a dog-walk was just the ticket for some fantastic pictures!

Thank you Rich and Aimee.
Its relatively soft material in comparison to what I'm usually used to. So it was a pleasure working with.

Sun is out, so gave it another try capturing the schiller effect. I still think there must be a better picture of the effect out there, but thats it for the time being.
