After lying around for the past three weeks hoping to die (maybe a slight exaggeration), my pneumonia seems to have improved enough to allow me to walk around a bit and do some things. I figured this would be a good time to try to figure out how to get better pictures from my photo box.
This is my home made box. It currently is using three 23w florescent bulbs, two on either side and one on top. The current interior is black although I can just take that out and it would be white. Probably partly because I've never understand ANY camera I've ever used and partly because I haven't been able to figure out how to use white balance cards, my pictures never come out the way I would like although I come close using the "auto" feature and the black background.
I suspect also that the 23w bulbs may not be bright enough. I also have Reveal incandescent bulbs (40w, 360 lumens) and Sylvania 75w, 1,080) bulbs that I could use. The cameras I use are 1) Powershot 2200, 2) Panasonic Lumix, 3) Sony DSC-530 and 4) Sony a350. I normally use either the Powershot or the S30 for their ease of use. I use a tripod and a remote control for the camera.
As I've mentioned before, I'm NOT conversant with cameras (duh!) and I need something to KISS. Still, even to do that I obviously need to know what kind of lighting is best for me, the proper setting on my camera(s), proper settings, etc. I know that some of you are experts but you really need to dumb it down for me.
My preference is to use the S30 on the photobox but I'm willing to take Cameras for Idiots lessons on any of the other three.
