Well,
I was actually hoping for a shark tooth, but found this instead...
What say you fossil aficionados? Is it a fang or a claw?
Cheers, Roland

Compare it to my stuff. Some sharks have weird teeth. Do you find mammal bones there? Didn't you post a mammal vertebrae recently? Here are shark's teeth from a creek in the Ocala National Forest

Some really nice pieces there, thanks to all. I've got one about an inch long I found on a rock while doing some mechanical support work for a pond digging project about 5 miles west of Newberg ,OR. Probably 45 miles as the crow flies to the present ocean.

I am sorry that my pictures were just not providing the right angle on this specimen. I didn't want to doubt those of you that have so much experience with shark teeth, but this little guy just doesn't look anything like your awesome items. But I found out what is does look exactly like... www.lakeneosho.org/Belosaepia/index.htmlMystery solved! It's a cephalopod spine of the Eocene epoch. Who would have known that? Thanks for your replies! ~Roland
