This according to a couple place I looked. So why does Foedom/Rio Grande kits come with lube. Kind of like "why does a Kamikaze pilot where a helmet". I was going to lube my Foredom but. Not now. But maybe the oil is for the cable? But wait they say that the oil runs down and gets to the bearings and hurts them If you are familiar with motor maintainance you will know that to.much grease is very bad, over heats the bearings fast.

So again, why include the oil? Am I missing something?

Thanks for posting that! I got a lightly used foredom with no instructions and had been wondering about lubrication.

What is a good solvent for cleaning that shaft? I have acetone, is that usually ok?

Fresh air and gloves, varsol will work too. Hell everything is dangerous now a day.

If possible, remove any rubber seals first.
