Are you going to just leave us hanging with "I ran them a bit different"? If I can read off the reflection in your rocks, I want details!

Wow! Very nice batch. Took me a minute to figure out what exactly was reflecting in the piece of Brazilian (curly cue light bulb).

Are you going to just leave us hanging with "I ran them a bit different"? If I can read off the reflection in your rocks, I want details! Thanks everyone. Rob- I really just babied them a bit more then my usual process. Burnished after 500 and after 1000 plus ran the polish for 3 days then cleaned out and re-loaded with more polish again for 3 more days just because I had no new material ready for the loto at the time. I am up in the air sometimes when it comes to running longer time frames in the loto due to more chances for the rocks to get beat up but as long as there's a good ratio of ceramics it seems to work. If this were all flint and agate it wouldn't be an issue but trying to run the pudding stone with these can be problematic at times. Chuck

I'm doing the same thing with a batch I'm taking out later today. I always do a wash/burnish after 1000, but this time I did a couple hour wash after 500 and a double wash after 1000. I also ran 1000 for about five days. I've got some lavic jasper in that took forever to do the rough stage for, so I thought I'd give them extra attention in the Lot-O. I hope they turn out as great as your batch did.

Brilliant shine !!! The Flint Ride material reminds me of some stuff I find here in Illinois only more colorful. In my rotaries I always do an extended wash/burnish before polish. 24 hours in soap and borax. Rinse and another 24 hours in borax. If the water pours off grey after that I'll even go another day in the borax. Maybe overkill but the results are good. P.S. My 3 year old grandson (looking over my shoulder) thinks all your rocks are great.

SO shiny and purty, I've got to stop looking at all these beauties, I can hear the tumbler starting to call. Thanks for sharing!

I burnish between all stages in the vibe (500F, 1000F and polish) and use the grey water test to determine if all the residue is off, or not. Some will argue that it isn't necessary, but I think your results speak for themselves. Brillliant shine!

Wow great shine! Somehow, after tumbling for like 30 years, I've managed to screw up my last two batches and danged if I can figure out why. Either the Rockshed has changed their polish or I've forgotten something I freaking knew before. Can't get the flats to polish worth spit. I do know I'm gonna run the batch I have in polish now for a real freaking long time.....Mel

Mel, what in the world do you do with 30 years'-worth of tumbled stones? I tumbled stones for a while and made some jewelry, gave most of them away at show-and-tell appearances at my kids' schools and to my young relatives (hoping to generate interest in Earth sciences.) But I still have maybe 10 pounds of nicely-polished bloodstone, rose quartz, hematite, etc., etc. that just takes up space. Maybe I'm imaginatively-challenged. How do you use that many stones?
