Wow, what a shin dig! So many rock friends and so much food and cheer! Tony and Chris out did themselves this year as they have every year. There was at least 50 people there and 3 full tables of great food. Chris did a ton of prep before anyone got there. I know they never take any credit but a huge THANK YOU to Tony and Chris. Another huge THANK YOU to Shotgunner for organizing this. A lot of people, including me, toook pictures so I am sure they will post them soon. I have church this morning so you will have to wait for the few I took. I was so happy to meet members I have talked to forever but have never met! It was an honor to have been there. I can't wait for 2015!! Sheri

What is the big white circle thingy on the Mtn.? Hi Keith, that's actually a 'Q' for Quartzsite. It's quite common for small desert towns out this way to paint the first letter in their name on the closest hill

Wow, there is a rarity, it looks like you managed a picture of the rarest creatures of them all. Jim captured in a picture? He seems to have successfully evaded most. Hope you don't mind if I share this picture?

Tony and Chris are definitely incredible folks. It was so great meeting new friends as well as catching up with others. Barb, so glad you and Stan made it to the BBQ this year. Thanks to Shotgunner for sure for organizing the BBQ this year. I didn't get any pictures this year so am going to enjoy seeing the ones posted.

Okay, here's mine from the BBQ.
First, there's the Big "Q" (in case you forgot where you were).
Looking to the SSW, Tony's space. That's Brian beefjello on the right, facing his wife Christa in the spiffy chair that has a pocket for everything (It's better than yours, Scott!).
Scott holding his beefjello goody bag and Diane drocknut
That's Chris's back side (center, in red shirt) as she flips burgers, and Tony in the black shirt to her right. Jim is preparing his horse ovaries to the left side of pic, and Scott managed to sneak into this one, too. That's Bob's hatted head in the center foreground (sorry 'bout that, Bob).
Chef Jim making his hors d'oeuvres.
In order to get a decent photo of Scott, you have to sneak up on him and take him unawares. Otherwise, he has time to make silly faces.
And last, but certainly not least, Tommy and his spunky German Bride, Eva. I love this shot of you two!
That's all I took at the BBQ, will be posting more photos as I can get them ready. Have some from both of the field trips, sunsets, sunrises, etc.
Let me just say here that it was wonderful to see all of you again that I had met last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing, meeting and conversing with all the new faces as well! Also had a lot of fun on the field trips, and I have the rocks on my patio to prove it!
Lynn zarguy , you were not the only one that requested the recipe for the chile relleno casserole. I will post it soon. And Anaheim is the type of chile, Ortego is the name of the brand.

Thank you, Diane, and no problemo. (GO SEAHAWKS!!!) Just wait until I post the pics of your beautiful virgin truck once it got a taste of Arizona pinstriping!!! You really amazed me, you did not hesitate for one second, just plunged right in down that road and let the bushes beat up your pretty new truck. Now that took some kind of guts, I give you major credit.
I also have a shot of your (Jim's?) lovely blue rock. Will put those and more pics from that field trip up on your Brenda thread.

Jean, Go Broncos! I can't wait to see the aftermath of the field trip I couldn't hesitate, the rocks were calling and my truck needs to look more broken in anyway It wasn't guts but rather lack of reason...lol. Jim's rock ha, I'm the one who picked it up so finder's keepers besides he was too busy looking at the cactus to even notice a rock.

By request here's the pic of you and Scott without him doing the 'Leno' impresssion Thanks again Tony and Chris for your hospitality!!

Wow! That was a great potluck. A zillion people & tons of great food. I wish I had met everyone who's avatar I've been seeing for years, but there are a bunch of you I didn't get introduced to. Tony & Chris are the best! Every year they put up with a horde of crazies invading their spot for a few hours. The food was wonderful. Jean's Chile Relleno casserole was to die for. I am a Mexican foodie & was very impressed. I didn't meet Tom from NM, but sure enjoyed the chiles. Beefjello, thanks for the goody bag. I now have an RTH sticker on my rear window. Wampidy, thanks for the sculpture & wood art. The trip out to Planet Mine for Chrysocolla was fun, even though the material wasn't such great quality. I know it's out there, though. I bought some great rough from the same area from Christopher. Maybe next year. See you all next year. Lynn

Before I forget, zarguy, here's the recipe for the Chile Relleno Casserole:
Chile Relleno Casserole Ingredients 2 (27 ounce) cans Ortega whole green chiles, drained 1 lb Monterey Jack cheese, shredded 1 lb Longhorn or Cheddar cheese, shredded
4 eggs, beaten 2 Cups half and half 2/3 Cup all-purpose flour 2 Cups El Pato tomato sauce (Mexican hot style)
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 13X9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. 2. Beat 4 eggs, 2 cups half and half, 2/3 C flour. Place a layer of chiles in bottom of baking dish, cover with a layer of the cheeses, then pour on a layer of the egg/half and half mixture. Repeat twice, making three layers. 3. Pour 2 Cups of tomato sauce over the casserole. 4. Bake uncovered at 350° for one hour.
Ortega Chiles - 2 cans like this
I use this sauce - good flavor, not too hot. Use two cups of the big can, or use two of the smaller ones
If you have a wheat/gluten allergy, you can substitute this just fine for the flour
Enjoy!
