Ok guys, I am running quartzide in 80 grit (yes 80) and after 6 days checked it. Once again the lid is not coated, the water is thin and the slurry on the bottom is like concrete. I followed the manufacturers instructions, measuring rocks and grit with a postal scale to ensure accuracy. The stones look good, but that slurry worries me. I would use pellets but I don't have any. (goona get some) I rechared, I barley had enough 80, and started her up again. This is only my second batch and the first didn't turun out so well but I believe I understand what I did wrong then. Any Ideas?

try and mix the grit up with the water before you add the rock. do you have any little "filler" rock to add they seem to help keep the slurry moving. the mix should be about like pancake batter. you could be a little thin. I would be tempted to add a little of the grit from the bottom use a screwdriver and see if it will mix up again

Hey Cookie, be careful not to add too much water. With a quartz type rock, I always leave the top layer above the water. If I have to, I can always add a little water later to maintain my slurry consistancy. As a rule of thumb, I use the following guideline: The harder the rock, the less water I use.

Thanks guys, I got some pellets and I think I probably did put in too much water. I'll take a little out, add the pellet and stir it up a bit. The stones I expected the least from are looking like they'll be the prettiest cookie
