Photos off the deck in back of the house. A stand of deciduous trees was chosen for a house site. Oaks, hickories, sourwood, dog wood gum, beech, magnolia and a few pines. Hound dogs have swollen bladders. They do not want to go out side. August November This morning 1/29/13

Crazy weather Mr James !! We had about 2.5 to 3 inches here at Sandhill ! Sun is out now and looks beautiful ! Glad I am not working over in Atlanta. A total mess on the interstate highways. Enjoyed looking at the material from over on the Savannah River in another post. I just love looking at the material under my stero microscope. Really cool material. Some hollow cavities of rocks from there have fossil shells in them. Micro-minerals also exsist in some of the cavities. Have seen some really remarkable micro's from there. Take Care and Stay Warm ! It was 11 degrees earlier this morning ! !

It was 11 degrees earlier this morning ! ! Good day to stay at home Frankie. i figured you got more snow over there. Seems like it hit harder south and east of us. I was thinking about you and your scope. Nothing like a stereo scope. And the Savannah stuff has great sized fossils for that scope. You can find used ones on Ebay that were very expensive now reduced. Got my eye on one. Curious what magnifications you like? Seems like a lot of shallow bay type critters like snails and bryozoans. I have to use my imagination figuring the shapes of the creatures since you get so many cross section views. I just imagine the ocean coming up into the shallow draw that the Savannah River flows in. Brier creek runs about parallel to the Savannah and is full of that material too. There was a (state of Georgia) biologist that lived close to me in north Atlanta when i was a kid. He did a lot of studies along Brier Creek and had a fabulous box full of colorful artifacts. He lived on Brookdale Road in my neighbor hood about the early 70's. I wonder if you knew him. He was raising a family and about 35 years old back then.

I like hunkering down Micheal. About 10-20 days out of the year. But it would get old. But out west and all the beauty 3 months would be fine.

Don't care what the weather, sure like the view out there, lots more comfortable when it's green though.

Don't care what the weather, sure like the view out there, lots more comfortable when it's green though. Spring and fall is super nice. Along with the green comes some brutal heat/humidity. Heat OK. Cold NOT. But the heat keeps a lot of people(most) in the house in these parts. It is 5 miles to the next public road/house in that direction. The GBI busted a bunch of utility copper wire thieves back there a mile back. I could smell the wire being burnt for months. They raided w/ATV's and helicopters and felonized 8 local boys. Apparently incarcerated a good while.

16 degrees in Tallahassee, FL this morning and it snowed. kids stayed in school overnight so they wouldn't have to be driven home in the mess outside, state capital shut down and everybody went home.... car wreck after car wreck, and not a single plow, sand spreader or anything close to it in the entire state. You would think that in an area like Jacksonville, FL., which gets 2 inches and they shut down the entire city that they would at least hve 1 plow truck to clear the streets for the ambulances and other emergency vehicles? Helllllllll Nooooooooooo !! easier to shut down and deal with all the idiots that don't know or have forgotten how to drive in the snow!!
Makes me wish I had brought my plow with me when I moved here 8 yrs ago, I'd be making money by hiring myself out to the city for 10.00/hr plowing just like back up north!!!

Some bizarre weather Mario. That's real cold for Tallahassee. When it's that cold in Florida it deceiving. Like it is not possible. And it messes w/your mind. Saw a lot of problems here. But that black ice is tricky. My ATV would not even climb a gentle hill covered with it.

James, beautiful country! In the high 60s today, though last night we had dainty sprinkles. We need real rain.
