Watched season 1 of Gold Rush Alaska...I saw lots of great looking rocks going thru their sluce/shaker (great colors) and wondered if they could have sent out dumprtruck full at .50 lb( to help offset costs )of what looks like agate and neophyite (sp) jade...

About 8 yrs. ago they dumped tons of nice geodes into a crusher on a hwy. project near Ontario, OR. We knew the D-9 operator on the project, and cut some on a split basis that he gathered after work. He said the wheels figured no time to even grab big ones [1ft +]. Sad. Went over there once to collect after shutdown, that was one of two days during the entire project the 9 was down, found little. John, I've had that same thought, watching all those great looking rocks go off the end of the sluice or shaker.
The pursuit of gold has a way of blinding people. They get tunnel vision, and just plain don't see all the cool rocks they are throwing away. You can bet they aren't "into" rocks! Besides, they don't need to offset costs when Discovery Channel is picking up the tab. Maybe not all of it, but you can bet it's a big chunk.
