In digging through my Jade bins I came across a block of this material that I got four slabs from. This is the best one with the most dendrites and the best defined ones. The photo is shown (mostly) wet except around the edges where it has dried out. It is Nephrite Jade that is a very deep green, so much so that it appears black in this slab. It is 2-1/2" by 3-1/2". I suspect that it is from Wyoming. Bob

That's special. Hope to see some cabs from it soon.

Very nice Bobby! Looks to me to be "flower jade" or "flowering jade" from the jade fields at Porterville, CA. I have some similar pieces in my collection. All the sites are on private ranches and it's rare stuff. It is characterized by those rust colored flowers in very dark green nephrite....Mel

Thanks for the update on the most likely source of the piece. I was just guessing on it. Bob

beautiful stuff. Jade is one of my favorite stones and that is some definite special stuff you have there.

That stuff's way cool! There's a black jade variety around here with similar reddish/orange dendrites and inclusions. Maybe manganese? Looks like it has some nice translucency too.
