I got these agate nodules with a bunch of Laguna and other northern Mexico agates. They don't look typical of any of the Mexican sources I know and I'm wondering if anyone recognizes them and can tell me something about them. Maybe they really are Lagunas. The pastel colors are very attractive but I'm used to seeing bolder, stronger colors in Mexican material. Any ID help will be appreciated. This first (bad) image is of a cab I cut from one:

what do the skins look like? Darn, I was afraid someone was going to ask that. The pictures I posted were made some time back and now I'm not sure where the stones are hiding. I'll have to dig through some storage tubs to find them. As I remember the "skins" were whitish-grayish but I'll try to get images ASAP. Some of them resemble Queensland Agate Creek nodules I've cut but I'm pretty sure my source was dealing in Mexican goods only.

Thanks Jean. I just did some searches and I see tantalizing similarities...and differences LOL. Thanks for that suggestion -- it may have put me on the right track.

The cab and the two nodules on the left definitely look like Botswana Agate to me. Based on the little skin I can see lower right on the other nodule, I'd say it's probably a Bot too.....Mel

But here is the other side of the coin. I wish I had a better picture of the lil guy. It's the center white skinned - pink middled Botswana that look a lot like yours. Which I had a better, closer photo. Lowell

”the center white skinned – pink middled” On the white card, Lowell? Those five sure have that Aussie look to ‘em.

Sorry - no, not the five which are from Queensland. It's the lonely lil guy second from bottom in the middle.

They look like Wavehill Agates from Wavehill Pastoral Station in Australia to me. And dang nice ones, too. Shame they're all busted up since the ones without slacker quartz in the middle are top grade, rare, and VERY pricey. Got a big collection of Wavehills but only a few really primo ones like these were b4 they got broken. Rick
