The post man’s wife complained that the birthstone aren’t right! This is the birthstone heart in question The combo is January/May The orange is suppose to represent garnet for January The clearer side is suppose to represent chrysoprase for May I know that the prase should be greener and the orange maybe more red for garnet? Anyway it was made as a good will heart…mostly (long story) But I did charge ten dollars for it Does the customer have a legitimate complaint? Thanks Ed I’ll probably get sued

For only $10 I sure wouldn't complain!!!
If you need some Chrysoprase to appease her, I have some to spare. All the way from really good, gemmy stuff or some neat stuff with the brown matrix which I like to incorporate in the cab. If you need it, shoot me a PM with and address and what size and I'll get it in the mail for ya sir!. I might also have some nice red jasper lying around or maybe some darker reddish carnelian. Let me know whatcha need

Ed, I echo Radio's response. If he'll supply the nice green chrysoprase, I'll supply some genuine red gem-grade rough garnet. We'll show that unappreciative so-and-so! But you should tell him that garnet occurs in every color of the spectrum, not just red. I have red garnets, orange garnets, and garnets in pink, yellow, green, purple, mauve -- every color but blue. They occur in blue but they're *really* expensive -- I can't afford them!

I have been looking for a green one for a while as Green is the wife's favorite color. Will buy, swap silver work or trade rocks The Garnet would be better than my offer of red jasper, but all this would mean someone would be getting a heart worth a darn site more than the $10 Ed charged! I also like to keep customers happy, but there are limits of what upgrades one can give for free

I say buy the heart back and move on. They dont deserve more. I know.... sour grapes.
But that is a $20 heart all day long and the next buyer will be happy at $20!
AND
The heart made from Rick and Radio's materials will be worth $100 or more!

Thank Rick Your right! that orange quartz is very garnet like I got that rock form Beef It really is a one of kind rock I made lots of hearts from it I’m not sure what the clearer stone is? It might be man-made –maybe optic material? It sort of translucent green And I thought prase But I was really taken aback by mailman response I gave it to him two weeks ago Out grinding in the rock yard & went up to see how she liked when he delivered the mail today He said- his wife said - the colors were wrong I said: Your wife’s wrong! He agreed…mostly

Thanks Scott ! I agree it is a $20.00 heart it really is a cool funky colored heart and the wife does like the heart it just that she doesn't think the birthstones representation is right
but this was all good will stuff I been promising to make heart for him for 2 seasons finally got around to it and I was stoked Because it was like the first birthstone combo
--As side note his response reminded me of my first customer When I ran my Mobile Sharpening Service. It was deli- I sharpened a knife for them I followed up 2 weeks later To see if they had more to sharpen
The owner says right off the bat I have a complaint! I like.. O God.. what the hell could be the matter? I’m going get into big lawsuit over 2-dollar knife sharpening job Ha Ha
Long story
They turned out to be my best customer With five deli’s in town!! ---
so who know what the husband said to the wife when he gave it to her? Maybe they like to hassle over insignificant things?
Anyway he got a real heart of a deal

Oooooo! I want some Garnets if you have some to spare that would be suitable for cabbing. I have been looking for a green one for a while as Green is the wife's favorite color. Will buy, swap silver work or trade rocks [/quote] Radio, I'll be happy to work out some arrangement for reddish or red-purple garnet, depending on the sizes you need. Green garnet's a little different. There's green grossular (Tsavorite) that goes (faceted) up to more than $3,500/ct. and there's green Andradite (Demantoid) that retails for up to $10K/ct. Probably the "greenest" garnet is Uvarovite, a chrome garnet mainly from Russia, that mainly occurs as druses with almost no cuttable larger crystals known. Understand, I'm not mocking you. But there are some very expensive garnets that aren't usually identified as such by sellers. Orange spessartite is awesome but it's costly. Mali garnets (grossular/andradites) are yellow to yellow-green and are still somewhat affordable and what a light show they exhibit! But rough ain't exactly cheap. The fine light-toned pinks, violets, red-purples, orange-reds etc. are mostly confusingly-named and now sell for high prices. So the old saying "It's a garnet, darn it!" no longer really applies.
