So many photos i put them in a link. Finished 2/7/57. The rose quartz is from the Hogg mine. I throw a few rose quartz's in every load to see what the health of the tumbles is. It is lightly frosted which tells me the load was fairly gentle. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157640716464923

Wow, nice set of tumbles! You really have an astounding variety there. That last red one you are using for light transmission testing is a most pleasing shade. I like how even much of the coral without readily noticable coralites has them hiding inside too.

I like how even much of the coral without readily noticable coralites has them hiding inside too. I like the back light. It allows you to see the innards. Incandescent and fluorescent makes the coral go orange. So the high sun gave about perfect true color. And allowing you to see the coralite's patterns. The purple one you mention is elusive. I have only found 3 corals that cook to that color. They are defined in my mind as cream colored concrete with (ugly) rust colored stain. I am always on the look out when hounding. The 3 i found were over 25 pounds. So the color seems to only occur in large corals. Here is a part of a 40 pounder w/a cooked chip to compare. Frustrating

Another beautiful set! I asked this once before, but it was probably lost on a long thread. I wonder if the coral would be ok for aquarium decor? It just seems appropriate to return them to & admire them in that setting.

The acidic river water neutralizes the rocks pretty much. The river is low PH full of acidic tannins and the rock is mostly limestone. So the river dissolves thru the solid limestone bedrock and the coral layer is about 2 feet thick and sits on the limestone bed rock. Here is an example of dissolved limestone bed rock(Sumannee River Live Oak FL.) The coral is 30 feet up on top of the limestone shelf

Good show James. Dare I ask how many pounds of tumbled coral you have all polished up now?
