Here in southern California we've been praying for rain -- and finally got a little. It wasn't nearly enough but it made us hopeful there will be more...lots more. We've had a very warm spell and I've actually had to run my A/C a couple of times recently. Meanwhile I sympathize with you in parts of the U.S. affected by that frigid Arctic cold. My daughter lives on a small acreage near Eugene, OR and has been snowed-in for 3 days with no electricity. She heats with wood so isn't freezing but life can get a little dreary with no lights, TV, internet, etc. Fortunately her land-line phone still works. It made me happy to see this camellia blooming in my yard this morning. I snipped it and gave it to my wife because pink camellias have great significance in our relationship. It's too perfect and beautiful not to be shared, so maybe this will bring a little cheer to the winter-weary among you.
