I hope all you folks came out of the ice storm ok. I can still remember when I was a kid waking up the the pine limbs breaking from freezing rain, sounded like cannons going off all over. I grew up in Union Parish Louisiana, middle of the state and go up to almost Arkansas. Nothing there but pine trees and briar thickets. When the ice comes a callin it sure leaves the pines in a mess.

As of Friday morning, 80% of Augusta Georgia was w/out power. It had very heavy accumulations of ice.

hey folks...i hope everyone in the path of this storm did better than i did here in Augusta...just about everything i have has been damaged that was outside.
we lost power Tuesday night...and just got it back around midnight last night...at least we were not cold or hungry...i have a lot of camping gear thankfully...a lot did not have that kind of gear.
we moved the watercraft to a neighbors field...so they are safe....but i just bought a travel trailer/camper...29 foot 2008 pilgrim international...just pulled it in from Brunswick..{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}ed it from underneath any trees in the yard......but yet...during the ice storm....a huge limb flew thru the air and landed on top and crushed it in...i am sure it's a total loss....only had it 5 friggin days.
during the first 2 days and nights of this mess....there was hardly any sleep...cracking and popping of limbs constantly....huge ones...every time we heard a huge limb snap it was head outside...if it did not fall on your house...run up and down the road and check on neighbors...we had chainsaws ready to go...everyone in the neighbor hood has been helping everyone.
i have never seen anything like this....where i live had at least 3 inches of ice.
anyway...so far i have...lost my camper...my fences...a boat trailer...my roof...my shed...my rock hut partially survived...ice came down so hard and big my tundra has what appears to be hail damage...trampoline for kids crushed...rabbit cage crushed.
there is more to the story...but i have to run and get the chainsaw...lots more work to do...kev.

Sorry for you cpdad. Augusta was right in the center of the target area. Back in 73' in north Atlanta the sub station blew up and the sky stayed lit from transformers blowing. It was a fire works show. The neighborhood teamed up and dealt w/it. It was an real strange experience. But turned into a sort of big 2 week party. We had a great time dealing with it together. I can snap a pine twig and the smell instantly reminds me of that storm. As does the snapping sound. No limb pops like that pine. The top 50 foot section out of a 100 foot pine landed on the house. Dad hired the tree service to cut any pines within reach of the house when things settled. Augusta is like a giant pine grove. Hate to hear you had to go thru the storm.
