Those suckas got some spines. We used to have Honey Locust trees till the cattle farmers got tired of cows getting blinded by them. Nothing a chain saw couldn't fix.

Beg to differ on that, Scott. Summer of 1971, standing on the fence picking Santa Rosa plums at my parent's house. Lost my balance (yeah, I used to do that way back then, too!), and put my hand out top catch myself on the tree. That sucka had spines on the trunk a good inch long! Jammed one into the meat of my palm under the thumb. Yes, it hurt... And I will not forget it.

It looks like Scott's do not have them, but they do have a serious need to be pruned. Too much rockin not enough prunin.

I tried summer pruning as proscribed. No fruit the next year. If I let it run wild lots of fruit. Every tree seems different.
