Getting your sweetie a card and some chocolates? Maybe dinner out at a fancy restaurant and some flowers? Perhaps I'm not the person to be giving advice (since I am not your normal "gal"), but please allow me to make a suggestion - ask her what she would like! A cute card (generally something funny, not mushy) is okay, but she opens it, reads it, it sits on her dresser for a week, then into the paper recycling it goes. Chocolates - don't even go there! I told DH DO NOT get me chocolates, because it's a waste of money, and he will be the person that eats them, not me. He is already sabotaging my diet plans, I'll not going to let him do this to me again! (He has gotten me chocolates just about every year - will let you know how this plays out.) Dinner out? Same story. Much easier to eat healthy at home, than to go out. Cut flower bouquets? Nah, dead flowers in a week - depressing. Bottle of perfume? What are you insinuating??
Or maybe something glittery that she can wear? If she is into wearing jewelry, I think this is a totally acceptable gift. Some lingerie? Now you're talking - but only if she feels comfortable with that. Personally, I think wearing something slinky is more for his benefit, but if it helps set the mood, I'm there! I'd wear it once, and into a drawer it would go.
Being a down-to-earth, frugal, no nonsense or pretense kind of person, I know what I plan to do, and it won't cost a thing. I'll leave it up to your imagination to figure out what that is, lol!
Whatever you decide to do, Valentine's Day is Friday. (Just in case you haven't noticed the huge media push to go out and spend.)
Have fun!

Still on the fence about this one. What she asked for they only have during Christmas on QVC. Those certain nut covered Mrs Prindable carmel apples, I checked all over their website to no avail. Now it's "nothing is fine", those are dangerous words to listen to "nothing really". Of all the times I pay attention this probably won't be one of them. Maybe a new saw blade or something slinky ? Oh wait the Victorias Sectret gift card from Christmas is still in her purse, don't need to add to the pile of giftcards. Maybe nothing this year ..... ?? I would have alot of spare time after that to spend by myself cutting rocks .

Bushman, I think she needs more than that, lol!
That poor doggie, I'd be thinking OMG, OMG, OMG too, if a polar bear had its arms wrapped around me - a (polar) bear hug! Can you imagine the fish/seal breath that thing must have? Cute pic, thanks for adding it!

Just boring old stuff here. Have a buddy who works for NASA and his wife coming up from Houston. Us two couples are gonna go for a long horseback ride on our favorite horses and then to a pot luck dinner at the picnic grounds.....Mel

Valentines day? what's that? Sarcasm, right? It's one of those days that retailers have totally way over-hyped (like Christmas and all the other ones) to get people to turn loose their hard earned cash on overpriced things that they have made the intended recipients think that they want/need/absolutely must have. Yeah, I'm a cynic...

Naw we dont 'do' valentines day around here. Kidlet even wrote an essay about why she thinks it's pretty stupid. That in order to not be "required" to make/give valentines to all 33 classmates. They are high school seniors and the teacher was requiring all give to all even if they do not like one another. The way out was the essay.

Ooh Ooh! Fossilman reminded me of my favorite BB King joke:
Man's wife wants to surprise her husband on Valentine's day and her husband is a big BB King fan. So, she goes down to the tattoo parlor and gets a big "B B" tattoo with one big "B" on each check of her hiney. Husband gets home from work that night and she says, "Have I got a Valentines Day surprise for you." She goes in the bedroom, disrobes, and bends over to show her husband her brand new tattoo.
Husband looks at it a bit and says, "Interesting tattoo, Now who the heck is BoB?"

Was a success but can't elaborate, let's say she was happy. Got momma's name on my arm a few years ago. I figured at 38 it was time for a tattoo. Nothing says this is it like a big name on your arm, para siempre.
