....well in the garage actually. Last weekend received a crated vintage HP J-2, so psyched. Killer deal from a very generous gentleman in CA who helped me with crating and shipping. I be so lucky. But..... It's on ice (literally) until I get back to Montucky. I won't put it online until I get back from our spring OR coastal hiatus. So by the time I return in a few months and the glacier has receded I will be able to get to them big'n rocks stashed in the yard. Based upon catmandewe advice I will be lQQkn for some bearings and just dreaming of big ol' slabs. Anyways just sharing my stokedness....cheers.

From the photos I can't tell if the vise clears the arbor. I'm used to seeing them below the cut-off table.

And the blade is 90 degrees off. Nice addition. More pics when you dirty it up a bit.

good point roy - pretty lame with no pix. Here ya go. Killing me to not set it up and get cutting but too much to do in the next week before we leave.... Not sure what the blade is but it has seen little to no use. Seller claimed he bought it 3 years ago at a rock show for $280. good deal man blade looks good to this is a pre 60's model nice looking saw

That's a good one. Just like my 14 incher but a bit bigger. Check the arbor shaft, it's the only weak point on the old HP saws with the arbor bearings on the outside, sometimes they can be a little bent, but easy to make a new one. If you make a little washer out of a piece of yogurt tub lid and slide it up the shaft to almost touch the inside of the box it will keep the occasional bit of oil from escaping. You will have to remove the rock tray to do it. I would add a shut off chain too.

Thanks all... roy I wa hoping for an older one...had no idea this was pre-60s. Way cool. I like old stuff, good juju. Rockoonz thanks for the suggestions. Going to be a few months before I get to play with it, so I may cycle back to you then. WRT the shut off chain - YES i definitely want to add that. No idea how - any suggestions or links to relevant threads? ( DirtCleaner perp blade mount extra special feature with that model .... dirty saw and bigger slab photos to come.)

They don't get better than that. And great blade. Those segmented blades are the way. Great purchase.
