Howdy folks, Went for a hike this afternoon and found these two artifacts in the roots of a pecan tree that blew over. The scraper is very cool. Made from a flint spall with the cortex for the most part left intact. The edge flaking is definitely curled over to make a nice edge for scraping fat off a hide or some such work. Back in California we called this form a clam shell scraper. Thought I had me a perfect point here too but as usual, broken tip when I finished digging it out. Oh well *L*....Mel

Scraper looks like it was designed for some heavy work, that rough outside would give you some real gripping area with no slipping ! Too bad about the tip ding on the point, I( found a bunch last year up in Wisc. that had similar problems !
