Just went to a estate sale today and purchased a very nice lot of tumblers, media and, rocks. In with all of the medias was a 25# jug of steel shot. Have not seen any reference to using steel shot in tumbling rocks. Anyone use it in tumbling rocks? I know it is used for metals. Just curious.

Steels shot is typically used by reloaders for tumbling rifle and handgun cartridges. I've never used anything like that for rocks, although it can be used for metal jewelry findings.

Thank you Mr. Coffee. Yes I have used shot for brass cleaning. I was just surprised to find it in this shop with no signs of reloading and only a minimal amount of craft store findings. Thank you for your reply. Bob
