Here is an exciting specimen for you. This is twinned selenite with included sand from Lake Gilles, South Australia. I made these images with my StackShot automated focusing rail. And a stereoscopic 3d image for good measure (cross your eyes).

Nice! I couldn't get my eyes to snap into the stereoscopic picture. I used to do some remote sensing work and could get my eyes to do that without the special glasses, but no more.

I see the 3-D effect. Cool. I think the stacked photo effect is coming as a feature where the camera takes multiple exposures in several planes and puts them together digitally.
I wanna see more.

Very....very....cool! How big is that specimen? I think I hurt myself a little bit crossing my eyes. Can't remember the last time I did that?

Haha, I forget how rarely most people do encounter stereoscopic images. It's a pretty big one, about 2 inches tall.

How did they get the Christmas tree into that crystal? Cooler than a ship in a bottle.

Awesome sample. I can only pull them half way then they stop and I see four. Too far apart for my eye flexibility I guess. Great post though. Jim

And a stereoscopic 3d image for good measure (cross your eyes). Whoa! Kinda funky crossing your eyes and looking at the selenite. Awesome specimen and photography, Geoff!

About 2 weeks ago I saw this on MINDAT.org Don't know who posted it on there, old owner or new owner ? Didn't go in and check it out, I seen it here first on RTH tho. Quite a piece to treasure !
