Until recently, I have never worn a belt. But since I'm still losing weight, I've found I need something to hold my pants up - especially when I start filling my pockets up with rocks, lol. So I picked up a nice belt very inexpensively (50 cents) at the swap meet a couple months ago. It does the job, but what rock enthusiast would wear a belt without a stone belt buckle? Had to remedy that situation...
Picked up an assortment of brass belt buckle blanks in Quartzsite at Desert Gardens.
Here's the aforementioned belt, w/ empty buckle just placed on it.
I had first cut a piece of Turkish rainforest jasper that I got from Scott @shotgunner in November.
As I cabbed it, the color changed a bit. It was more green than blue, though. Will probably wrap this cab.
So I went searching for something else. I had picked up this slab at the PowWow for fifty cents (told ya I'm a big spender).
From the moment I saw it, it made me thing of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" painting -
Okay, so it's not exactly the same, but it has the same colors/feel to it. The preform. (Made the cuts with glass cutter!)
Just placed into the buckle blank. On these buckles, the stone gets glued in with J-B Weld, then a final grinding/polishing after it hardens.
So this is where it's at right now. Have some epoxy-ing and polishing to do yet, then install on belt.
After that, I'll tackle the other three.

Starry Night for sure! That will be great to wear with your new skinny belt! Congratulations!

I really like those! The first cab was interesting but I like the Blue swirlstone in the setting even more. i think the deeper blue contrasts better with the setting....Mel

Thanks for that, Pat. I'm 70% of the way there. My DH did not get the connection to Starry Night, lol! I'm no art aficionado, but it sure looked like Starry Night to me! Glad it wasn't my imagination.
Thanks, Scott. You would love the Turkish material, woot!
Thanks, Mel. I agree, the blue swirly cab does go so much better with the brass color of the buckle.

If you're into belt buckles, the standard is gonna change soon in the business! Looking fantastic! Adrian PS. You still have both ears on, don't you?

Roy, that's really nice. Maybe I'll have to cut the next stone a little bit smaller and try something like that.
Thanks, Adrian. And yes, I still have both my ears on... But I'll bite - why do you ask?

Ah, gotcha. Dear Vincent cutting off his ear. I don't think my mind was working earlier today, lol. Thanks, Adrian.
