These are grown for 3 years and now being divided. I do not have to pay inventory on stock plants. I get about 15 plants out of the 8 inch pot in the first photo. Will repot and sell for $15 repotted each wholesale. The roots/tubers taste bitter. I taste most of my plants out of curiosity. Digested bugs may have made them so bitter. Maybe they will make me younger. Probably nauseated. The plant is sarracenia 'alata' but not pure alata. I have been propagating them for 20 years from collected stock on the Mississippi/Louisiana line. It is the one on the right. It crossed with the one on the left(flava) and made the one in the center. We call it alotaflava. It is apparent that center one has characteristics of the 2 on the left and right.

Plant genetics... so cool. Gotta love those carnivorous (insectivorous?) plants. They'd die of thirst, dry up and blow away out here. Would need a special climate-controlled greenhouse for them.

do those readers have chameleon capabilities?
Those are beauties and look very healthy. You did them well. Nice profit for your labors!
We have a really big one I have seen down here. Google Aristolochia grandiflora and check it out James. Thanks for sharing.
Edit: oh now I get it. Did you taste it to see if you could name it a-lotta-flava?

Made me do a double take on the glasses! Plants can be a lot of fun! I played with growing Orchids several years ago and would have had a gazillion of them if the wife wouldn't have set her foot down:-)

The plants have eyes...........................
and specs to match their outfit. Color coordinated goodness.
Is it possible to mail me tubers? I can grow them in a plastic pond. I have a resale number, so perhaps you will offer wholesale pricing.

Since they grow in a container with out holes they use very little water. And they grow in peat which is slow to dry out. And they love heat. I keep their greenhouse closed and no vent-120-130F w/high humidity. So hot it kills anything that gets trapped in there. But if you keep their roots damp you will never have any problems.

One of the Vendors at an IRBA show traded me several plants for a Gecko and it started the quest for more and more Orchids. We had an assortment of exotic plants in some of the reptile cages, and especially in the big one we kept in the living room with the Dart frogs. Had a few escaped fruit flies outta that one, but it sure was pretty!

Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/64404/pretty-stock-tubers-carnivorous-plants?page=1&scrollTo=728021#ixzz2tiCUrCjJI see that Pelican flower Mark. It's giant and has a whole host of interesting substances in it. Smells bad. Looks beautiful. Just like us.Ha! I am not tasting that one. It has a pretty serious carcinogen, aristolochic acid. Obviously the plant has it's own acid. Tells you that it has intent. Maybe cure for arthritis, hmm, second thought i may have to see about a aristolochi salad.

These are way easier to grow than orchids. Hats off to you for growing those Radio.

Looks nice, and must taste great, alotaflava thats a good one. Got any Purps ? Purps are not fond of my enviro droser. I ordered in 'Carolina Yellow Jacket',a cross between flava and a slightly crossed purp. It is said to be robust and can be reproduced by tissue culture. Gotta sell tissue culture varieties here in Georgia or the law will come after you. I hope Yellow Jacket does well. I have had short stubby purp hybrids before that would have sold out every year but they are too slow to reproduce. The alata above is not pure. But it is so aggressive it will burst the pot and it reproduces rapidly. I found them on the Louisiana state line in a open wetland so big i could not see a tree line. I think it took the whole wetland over.
